I know I am going to sound like a curmudgeon, but I can’t help but remember a time in which vampires were things to fear, not somebody you date to shock your parents. Vampires are not supposed to be dreamy, they are the stuff of nightmares!
What happened to the brutal bloodsuckers?
Fear not, they may be coming to a theater near you.
Peter & Michael Spierig’s DAYBREAKERS may just be what the Lynch ordered.
Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke) is a researcher in the year 2019, in which an unknown plague has transformed the world’s population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race.
In addition to Ethan Hawke, DAYBREAKERS stars Willem Defoe (Platoon, Shadow of the Vampire) and Sam Neil (Jurassic Park, The Piano).
It may end up being a stinker, but the trailer has me intrigued.
Sadly, DAYBREAKERS does not land in theaters until Jan 8th, 2010.
