With production having started in Louisiana, I thought this would be a good time to take a look at the cast of DARK PLACES, the film based on Gillian Flynn’s novel.
The sole survivor of a home invasion where she famously witnessed the death of her mother (Christina Hendricks) and sisters, Libby Day (Charlize Theron) lives with the knowledge that her testimony as a 7-year-old sentenced her brother (Tye Sheridan) to life in prison for the horrific crime.  When The Kill Club, a group of true-crime enthusiasts find Libby twenty-five years later and convince her to re-examine the events of the night, new memories and old suspects suddenly flood back into her life.  As shocking information comes to light, Libby begins to question her own key testimony and sets out to discover the truth of her tragic past.
Tye Sheridan made his film debut in 2011’s TREE OF LIFE and worked with Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon in MUD.
Cory Stoll is the adult Ben. Cory’s career has been steady, but mainly minor roles in films such as LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN and THE BOURNE LEGACY. He is most known for his roles in the U.S. version of HOUSE OF CARDS (Rep. Peter Russo) and LAW & ORDER: L.A. (Detective Tomas ‘TJ’ Jaruszalski).
Chloë Grace Moretz is Diondra, the former girlfriend of Ben. She is described as a “brooding metal fan” and she introduced Ben to drugs and a dark lifestyle that may have sent him down the dark path that could have turned him into a murder. Chloe is best known as Hit-Girl in KICK ASS.
Andrea Roth is modern day Diondra. Roth played Denis Leary’s estranged wife in RESCUE ME.
Nicholas Holt is Lyle, the treasurer of the Kill Club. Holt first gained notice when starred opposite Hugh Grant in ABOUT A BOY, playing the painfully awkward Marcus.
Drea De Matteo plays Krissi Cates, a stripper will knowledge of the murders. Drea is best known as Adriana La Cerva in THE SOPRANOS, it brought her an EMMY award. She has also appeared in DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (Angie) and SONS OF ANARCHY (Wendy).
DARK PLACES is slated to land in theaters on September 1st, 2014.
