A&E’s LONGMIRE debut draws 4.1 million viewers.

LONGMIRE, the series featuring the characters of Craig Johnson, delivered 4.1 million total viewers, a network record for a scripted series. It also did a strong 1.4 million in the 25-54 demo.

Even better is the fact that the pilot was pretty good and did a solid job of establishing the key characters. Obviously it is important to keep those viewers and delivering an appealing product certainly helps with that.

Australian actor Robert Taylor (The Matrix) stars as Walt Longmire, sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Walt has been sort of sleep-walking through life since his wife died a year ago. The show starts as he begins his journey back into the world of the living. Also on board are Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Gallactica”), Lou Diamond Phillips (“Numb3rs”), Bailey Chase (“Damages”), Cassidy Freeman (“Smallville”) and newcomer Adam Bartley.
