Robert Alexander’s The Kitchen Boy has been optioned by Glen Williamson of Back Lot Pictures.

The Kitchen Boy is a fictionalized account of the last days of Czar Nicholas II. After fall rise of the Bolsheviks, Nicholas, along with his wife and children, was sent to Siberia and eventually killed.

Glen Williamson has a pretty good resume that includes Hollywoodland, The Ice Harvest and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. His more recent film is Sunshine Cleaning with Amy Adams, Emily Blunt and Alan Arkin.

Ronald Harwood will handle the screenplay. He wrote Australia as well as The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Alexander will be assisting Harwood with his research. Alexander’s considerable knowledge of Russia can only help and gives me hope that this could be something special.

The plan is to shop the screenplay around to financial backers and distributors.
Robert Alexander previously wrote over a dozen mysteries under the name R.D. Zimmerman. The novels earned him a LAMBDA Literary award as well as nominations for the Edgar and Anthony Awards. He is also the author of a number of juvenile books.
