Deadline has reported that Amazon Studios has ordered a pilot of Michael Connelly‘s Harry Bosch series.
Bosch is a homicide cop that served in Vietnam as a tunnel rat. That background plays a role in the first novel, BLACK ECHO. Bosch was orphaned at an early age when his mother, a prostitute, was murdered. Bosch has an unwavering sense of right and wrong and often clashes with authority. While it has not said, I am betting they will move things forward, with Bosch being a vet of Iraq instead of Vietnam.
Connelly is working with and Eric Overmyer (TREME, LAW & ORDER), with the two of them acting as Exec Producers and writers of the pilot. Overmyer is a great pick to team up with, he has worked with David Simon on three series (Treme, but on Homicide: Life On The Streets and The Wire) and worked on three Law & Order series (original, CI and SVU). He has experience both as a producer and a writer.
When it was first revealed that Connelly was looking to send Bosch to TV, the idea was for each season to cover 1-2 of the 16  Bosch novels. Bosch has appeared in other books with Mickey Heller, but I am guessing those titles are locked into the film deal that brought us THE LINCOLN LAWYER movie.
