For a few years, Bubba Nosferatu has been “in development.” That phrase has as much meaning, in Hollywood, as “creative differences” or “exhaustion.”

But now we have a little more information about the nifty planned prequel to the delightful Bubba Ho-Tep (see my review of the recent special edition).

If it does get made, Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti would be playing Colonel Parker (manager of Elvis). This tidbit was confirmed Mr. Giamatti himself in an interview with the website Rotten Tomatoes.
But before anyone gets too excited, there is still one big hurdle: Getting Bruce Campbell to reprise his role as Elvis.

Bruce Campbell was waffling around about whether he wants to play Elvis or not again. So that’s the problem… you really want him playing Elvis, so hopefully we can get him to do it. If not, I’m sure they will try and find somebody else but I think it’s contingent on whether he’ll do it or not. It’s a great script, a completely insane script. I would love to do that because I love [Bubba Ho-Tep]. It’s a great movie.”

I sincerely hope they can convince “The Chin” to say yes. Bubba Ho-Tep was one of the coolest B flicks ever.
The planned story for Bubba Nosferatu and the Curse of the She-Vampires is that Elvis finds himself doing battle with a coven of she-vampires while filming one of his movies.
