Fox and Warner Bros have announced that Ben McKenzie (SOUTHLAND’s Ben Sherman) will take on the role of Jim Gordon, a rising police officer in the crime ridden city of Gotham.
This will not be the first time Ben has stepped into the world of DC, he voiced Bruce Wayne/Batman for BATMAN: YEAR ONE. The show will feature the evolution of the criminals that end up becoming The Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman. The series will also show us the growth of Bruce Wayne as he struggles with the loss of his parents. According to the producers, the plan is for the final episode to show Wayne don the mantel of The Batman.
Fox has made a series commitment with Bruno Heller (THE MENTALIST) producing.
McKenzie took to Twitter and promised the following: All I can promise is I will do my best not to screw this up. Can’t wait to get to work.
