FX chief executive officer John Landgraf announced today that Billy Bob Thornton will star in the upcoming limited series of FARGO. The ten episode series with feature new story and new characters, but done in the world with similar sensibilities.
Thrornton will play Lorne Malvo, a rootless, manipulative man who meets a small-town insurance salesman and sets him on a path of destruction.
The people behind the project give me hope that this could work out. In addition to having the Coen Brothers serving as Exec producers, they have Noah Hawley is serving as showrunner. Hawley  created the delightfully odd, but short-lived, series THE UNUSUALS. The police series starred Jeremy Renner and Adam Goldberg.
The series will start shooting, in Canada, this fall and is expected to debut in the Spring of 2014.
