When an ambush on the League of Assassins leaves Ra’s al Ghul unable to recover, his daughter Talia (Baccarin) flees with her ten-year-old son Damian (Allan). Surprising Batman (O’Mara), Talia tells him Damian is his son from drug-induced intercourse with her.

Left with Batman for safety, Damian wants to find and take revenge on his grandfather’s killer. Batman, however, takes it upon himself to continue Damian’s training while curbing his killing ways.

Son of Batman is an exotic adventure story and a coming-of-age story, but unlike most superhero action-fests, it’s also a gripping mystery. Particularly well cast are Firefly alums Morena Baccarin as Talia and Sean Maher as Nightwing/Dick Grayson.

The Blu-ray includes featurettes on Damian Wayne and the League of Assassins; a featurette on character design; a preview of DC’s next animated movie, Batman: Assault on Arkham; and four episodes of previous Batman cartoons.
