This new release from Titan books is the first collection in a series gathering the comic strips based on the Fleming books that ran in the fifties and sixties in the London Express. Volume One contains Casino Royale, Live and Let Die, Moonraker, Diamonds are Forever, From Russia With Love, Dr. No, Goldfinger, Risico, From a View to a Kill , For Your Eyes Only and Thunderball. The book opens with an introduction by Roger Moore. The art is by John McLusky and the adaptations were done by Anthony Hern, Henry Gammidge and Peter O’Donnell (of Modesty Blaise fame). The stories being done in the form of a daily strip there is just a bit of overlap on each of them as the first frame picks up from the last frame of the previous days strip. The art is terrific and I actually think the black and white makes it look better. The stories are also a very true adaptaion to the books, so while similar to the movies, they hold closer to the novels which in my opinion are better anyway. This is sure to be picked up by the legions fo 007 fans, but I think fans of strip art and espionage and just cool stories will love this. Got a Bond fan on your gift list? Here’s just the thing to get them.
