Back in March, word came out that Joel and Ethan Coen were going to remake TRUE GRIT. But rather than follow directly in the footsteps of The Duke, the plan is to revisit the source novel by Charles Portis and stay closer to that, instead of the John Wayne film.

Now, we have some news regarding the cast and it is sounding pretty good.

Jeff Bridges is slated to play Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne originally), with Matt Damon will be playing La Boeuf (Glen Campbell), Cogburn’s partner in the hunt.

Josh Brolin is Tom Chaney (Jeff Chaney), the man Le Boeuf and Cogburn are hunting.

No word on who will be playing Mattie Ross (Kim Darby), the girl that accompanies them on the hunt.

At this point in time, the Coens could remake LEONARD, PART SIX and I would give it a chance. Even their weaker films are still interesting. Anyone that can create Wheezy Joe, gets a free pass with me.
