TODAY IS THE DAY WE KILL DAN MALMON

Wait. That sounded better in my head. Anyway. Today is the day. KILLING MALMON is out in the world. And holy crap is this a weird feeling. Kate and I have been fans of crime and mystery fiction in all of its many forms for as long as we both can remember. Books. Comics. Movies. All of it. (Remember: THE MONSTER AT THE END OF THE BOOK is a thriller, after all.) We were introduced to this community first through social media, and then through Crimespree Magazine. And life was good. Hanging out. Reading books and comics. Meeting up with folks at once a year conferences. Writing reviews and hand-selling books to strangers because...

KILLING MALMON ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi, everyone! Dan and I are finally making the announcement that our parents have been waiting forever for! No. We aren’t having kids. We are having a book. And some amazing people are joining us on this adventure. The anthology is called KILLING MALMON, and it’ll be out on October 19, 2017. It’s funny and sad and shocking and suspenseful and all sorts of other adjectives, and it will benefit a charity close to our hearts. Here’s the skinny, straight from the Forward of the book. We hope you dig it. Down and Out is publishing it and Eric Beetner did the cover. Seriously, this book is like the biggest and badest jam band ever. We’ll have...

Saint Kate’s Cycling Saint was born and she’s been with the team ever since. Last year I did something I had talked about doing since college: I got a tattoo. That’s right a tattoo. The “right” design never came to me. There was never anything I felt about strongly enough to have with me for the rest of my...

Give a Book, Save a Life

“Today I dropped another shipment of books off at our local shelter. As I wrestled the first box out of the car, a woman trotted over. ‘Are you donating books?’ she asked. ‘Yup.’ ‘Do you mind if I grab one before you bring them in? They get snatched up pretty quick.’ ‘Help yourself! What sorts of things do you like to read?’ ‘I’d love a mystery, if you have any.’” That was the message I got this morning from Chris Holm. This all started back in January. I was listening to WNYC. They were reporting on the pressure homeless shelters experience during the winter months. A woman called in. Sadly, she had visited shelters in both the U.S....
