I don’t get this one, but Variety is reporting that there are plans for a film version of the 80s William The Shat Shatner police series TJ Hooker. Hooker is decsribed as a “no-nonsense patrol sergeant” but they don’t mention the obvious girdle or the fact that he moved about as fast as a turtle.

The series also featured Adrian Zemed and Heather Locklear and ran on ABC from 1982 to 86. The show was typical of the 80s cop shows, action with a little humor…with just a bit of cheese.

The plan is for the film to be an action comedy. I suppose it could end up being good, but I am not holding my breath.

Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson are handling the writing duties. These guys are responsible for TREMORS. Of course they also delivered Wild, Wild West and…Ghost Dad.

Can you see why I am skeptical?

Chuck Russell is expected to direct. Russell was behind The Scorpion King, The Mask and Eraser.
