This is Trevor Campbell here to review the newest Call of Duty game, Black Ops 2. It is filled with action and has a great campaign as well as multiplayer with the addition of a fan favorite, Zombies!
The campaign is much different than other games in the series, as it is the first that is nonlinear and the setting and time constantly changes. It begins in 2025 with the introduction of Alex Mason’s son, David Mason, who is looking for information from Frank Woods. Then it flashes back to 1986 with Alex Mason dealing with the main villain in the game, Raul Menedez. The story is full of twists and is very fun, the best part being the four different endings a player can get depending on what the player does during certain parts of the game. There are extra missions though, and these I didn’t like as much as the story because they seem pointless.
The multiplayer in this game is more like Modern Warfare 3 than Black Ops, as you have the option of Call of Duty Elite, a better version of theater and Call of Duty TV, as well as some new multiplayer types. Personally, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag are still my favorites, but the best thing about multiplayer is the look of the maps, guns and interface. Everything has been given a futuristic face lift; a majority of the guns are actually prototypes right now, with the settings of the maps being fresh and unique from other games.
Then there is the return of Zombies! In this game, there are three different ways to play Zombies; Survival, seeing how long you can last on the three playable maps, Tranzit, very much like Survival, but you can drive a bus allowing the players to change the map they are at and go across the entire Green Run location, and Grief, an eight player dual or survival mode, depending on how players interact. This mode has been given these new game types as well as the ability to craft weapons in game, which is a groovy addition, to be able to build a turbine for electricity, a shield to protect yourself as well as a jet gun, which is used in this game’s Easter egg. The only downside is the maps themselves are rather lacking, not at all having the same effect of Black Ops’ Kino der Toten or Five, though hopefully any new DLC will be better.
