David Tennant will cross the pond to star in the U.S. version of BROADCHURCH. Tennant starred in the original U.K. version and is best known as DOCTOR WHO.
The remake will follow the plot of the original, in which a young boy is found dead dead on an idyllic beach surrounded by rocks and a jutting cliff-face, from where he may have fallen. Although his cause of death remains unsolved, the picturesque seaside town where the tragedy occurred is at the heart of a major police investigation and a nationwide media frenzy.
Dan Futterman (CAPOTE, IN TREATMENT) and Anya Epstein (HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREETS, IN TREATMENT) will call the shots, with series creator Chris Chibnall writing the pilot screenplay and joining them as an executive producer.
Filming will begin early next year, with plans to air in late 2014.
