Today, Universal Studios Home Entertainment announced plans to release two-disc special editions of Hitchcock classics Psycho, Rear Window and Vertigo, as well as Orson Wells’ epic A Touch of Evil on Oct 7th.

Each of these will be a 2-disc set, with a SRP of $26.98.

This, combined with the upcoming MGM Hitchcock collection, means hours of cimematic bliss in the Lynch household this fall.

Psycho: The film that made folks afraid to take showers. Based on the novel by Robert Bloch, Psycho may well be Hitchcock’s best known film. Larcenous Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) picks The Bates Motel to spend the night…bad move Marion.

Mike Vargas, a high ranking Mexican narcotics official on honeymoon with his bride Susie is drawn into the investigation because a Mexican national has been accused of the crime. The figurative and physical presence of Hank Quinlan as the 330 pound sheriff looms all over. Quinlan is a fanatic where “justice” is concerned, even if obtaining it involves planting evidence. Quinlan’s reputation for law and order enables him to bend the law without question until Vargas confronts him.
