Based on a line of Hasbro action figures, The Super Hero Squad Show is a kid-friendly cartoon that aired from September 2009 through July 2011 on Cartoon Network in the U.S., on Teletoon in Canada, and on iTunes.
In the early Season 2 episodes in this set, Iron Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Thor, Falcon, and Scarlet Witch must band together again to stop Thanos from acquiring six gems that will allow him to activate the Infinity Gauntlet and control the universe.
Thankfully, not all the episodes focus on furthering the story arc; there’s time for fun, like a contest of mighty feats between Thor and Hercules. While the series definitely skews young, older viewers may find it a nice change of pace from the recent spate of superhero movies taking themselves too seriously.
Most intriguing to me are the many celebrities voices on the show. Too many to list here, but they are on the show’s Wikipedia page.
Season 2, Volume 1 is a single disc that includes the episodes:
“Another Order of Evil!” (Parts 1 and 2)
“World War Witch!”
“Villany Redux Syndrome!”
“Support Your Local Sky-Father!”
“Whom Continuity Would Destroy!”
“Double Negation at the World’s End!”
The only special feature is a brief interview with Travis Willingham, voice of the Hulk.
