Pad up the edge of your chair if you watch Vantage Point (Columbia Pictures) as you will be spending a lot of time there. To call this a thriller seems a little tame, it’s more of a thrill ride and while it goes over the same ground over and over, it still manages to keep the tension high.

Headed by Dennis Quaid as a Secret Service agent on his first day in the field after taking one for the team (very bad timing as it turns out) and backed by the likes of Forest Whitaker and William Hurt as the President, this one comes in with promise and pretty much delivers.

At a huge summit in Spain the President is shot, bombs go off and all hell breaks loose. The hook is eight points of view of the same event, with a bit more of the puzzle supplied each time. Mostly effective but they rewound the film each time, which I found a touch annoying. But I pick nits and if Vantage Point doesn’t get your juices flowing see a Doctor. You’re probably dead.

The specials are mostly standard but watchable if you like those things.
