OfficeBulletinBoardAn author’s workspace is full of his or her personality. In my case, I prefer to have things around me which give me pleasure. I have a small bookcase filled with some of my favorite books with my 2013 Lovey Award for Best First Novel sitting on top where I can see it. The latter inspires me to keep writing and striving for that next award.

I have a bulletin board with a mixture of personal and work related items. There are photos of pets, people, dragons, and a few gifts from fans. A map of Indianapolis which is now hidden by character notes for my next Circle City Mystery novel helps me with locations. I also printed a favorite I found on Facebook—an angry cat with the words “I am an author…I may look innocent on the outside, but in my mind I have killed you three times.” You know who you are.

All of these things plus a sound of the ocean CD, help me relax and stay focused. Of course, being the very organized person I am, I must keep my things in order on my desk. It’s as though the mess is begging for my attention. When I get in the groove, I don’t want any distractions.

Best of all, I have a fabulous?????????? husband who encourages me and respects the fact that when I’m shut up in my space, I should be left alone. I will emerge eventually and I won’t let him starve.

About the author:
Michele (M.E.) May attended Indiana University in Kokomo, Indiana, studying Social and Behavioral Sciences. Her interest in the psychology of humans sparked the curiosity to ask why they commit such heinous acts upon one another. Other interests in such areas as criminology and forensics have moved her to put her vast imagination to work writing crime fiction that is as accurate as possible. In doing so, she depicts societal struggles that pit those who understand humanity with those who are lost in a strange and dangerous world of their own making.

In creating the Circle City Mystery Series, she brings to life fictional characters who work diligently to bring justice to victims of crime in the city of Indianapolis. Michele also hopes her readers will witness through her eyes, the wonderful city she calls her hometown. Learn more about Michele at www.memay-mysteries.com.
