Ok, this rocks.

Jason Lee (MY NAME IS EARL) has signed on for the lead role in the upcoming TNT pilot DELTA BLUE. DB is about Dwight Hendricks, an excellent Memphis cop that moonlights as an Elvis impersonator and lives with his mother.

“Jason Lee is the ideal choice to bring the compelling, off-kilter Dwight Hendricks to life,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “With extraordinary talent in front of and behind the camera, along with an outstanding script, DELTA BLUES is shaping up to be a hugely entertaining show and a great fit with our lineup of original dramas.”

I have been a fan of Lee since seeing him in Kevin Smith’s MALLRATS. He recently has had success on MY NAME IS EARL and the film version of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMONKS (I guess a guy has to eat). He will next be seen in Smith’s A COUPLE OF DICKS.

George Clooney is Exec producing and Clark Johnson (THE SHIELD, LIE TO ME, THE WIRE)is directing.
