JoBlo has reported that Elmore Leonard’s THE SWITCH is being looked at for a potential film production.

Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara hit it off in prison, where they were both doing time for grand theft auto. Now that they’re out, they’re joining forces for one big score. The plan is to kidnap the wife of a wealthy Detroit developer and hold her for ransom. But they didn’t figure the lowlife husband wouldn’t want his lady back. So it’s time for Plan B and the opportunity to make a real killing — with the unlikely help of a beautiful, ticked-off housewife who’s hungry for a large helping of sweet revenge.

Sharp minded folk will notice that Ordell and Louis were also present in Rum Punch and the film that came from it JACKIE BROWN. In that film, directed by Quentin Tarantino, Samuel L. Jackson played Ordell and Robert De Niro was Louis. According to the report, QT is not connected to this project.

Dan Schechter has written the screenplay. Dan made his directorial debut with GOODBYE BABY and has been involved in a number of small budget projects over the last decade. This certainly would be the biggest thing he has tackled.

No word on who is being looked at in terms of cast, but a good script of a Leonard novel is a veritable goldmine for an actor. The dialogue is crisp and the chracters memorable. Of course the key word there is good.
