Sydney Tamiia Poitier (Daughter of Sidney “Mr. Tibbs” Poitier) has signed on for the two-hour pilot/television movie of the revamped Knight Rider. According to Rueters, Poitier will play “a feisty FBI agent” that has issues with Michael Tracer (Justin Bruening), son of Michael Knight. Anyone think they would be describing the agent as fiesty if it was a man?

Poitier appeared in season one of Veronia Mars and was recently in Death Proof.

Also signed is Deanna Russo. Russo is currently on The Young and the Restless. She will play Sarah Kamen, an assistant professor of engineering at Stanford and the daughter of the creator of KITT (the talking car). When her father disappears, she is contacted by the talking car. She seeks out Michael Tracer for help. Tracer is struggling to pay of his gambling debts. Michael is Sarah’s former boyfriend. She agrees to pay off his debts if he will help her (and the car) find pops.

It would have been better if Michael Tracer was a lifeguard or a German lounge singer.

DAVID Hasselhoff is also in discussions to make an appearance. Hasselhoff starred in the original series.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have to point out that my brain shut down and I wrote Michael Hasselhoff instead of David. Thanks to Will for pointing it out.
