After collecting dust in Hollywood, there is movement on Marcus Sakey’s GOOD PEOPLE.
Earlier today, DEADLINE announced that James Franco (127 HOURS, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS), Kate Hudson (ALMOST FAMOUS, HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS) and French actor Omar Sy will star in the film that is based on Sakey’s novel. Sy garnered international attention for his performance in THE INTOUCHABLES.
A family, and the security to enjoy it: that’s all Tom and Anna Reed ever wanted. But years of infertility treatments, including four failed attempts at in vitro fertilization, have left them with neither. The emotional and financial costs are straining their marriage and endangering their dreams.
Then one night everything changes. Offered a chance at a future they’d almost lost hope in, they seize it. One simple choice. A fairy tale ending.
But Tom and Anna soon realize that fairy tales never come cheap. Because their decision puts them square in the path of ruthless men. Men who’ve been double-crossed, and who won’t stop until they get revenge.
No matter where they find it.
Also noted was the fact that Danish director Henrik Genz will be making his English language debut on the film. Niels Arden Oplev (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO)was previously attached to direct.
GP was optioned, over four years ago, by Actor Tobey Maguire’s Maguire Entertainment and Film 360. At the time, Kelly Masterson was on board as screenwriter. Since then, others have tackled it and it looks like final writing credits will go to Masterson as well as Paul Grellong and Christina Hodson. I know nothing about Hodson, but Grellong has been active on TV. He is currently working on REVOLUTION (NBC) and previously wrote for TERRA NOVA and LAW & ORDER: SVU. In addition Millennium Films is handling production, the result of which is over a dozen folks credited as producers. Production is slated to begin, in London, in May.
