Any evening spent with Val McDermid is an evening well spent, and Friday night was one such night. The Mystery Happy Hour with Val McDermid was held at The Merriam Park public library. After everyone enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and beverages, Val spoke on a number of topics, including the role a local adult library played in her life, the start of her career and how her approach to writing has changed over the years.

The audience numbered around 40 and featured fellow mystery writer Ellen Hart (and my mother). With all copies of The Vanishing Point being sold, the event was a definite success.
Val’s appearance was to promote The Vanishing Point, her latest, and she has several more stops on her North American tour, check out these dates and see if she will be appearing near you.
