FX, a cable network quickly becoming known for their strong dramas, has ordered a new season of Rescue Me as well as two of Damages.
Rescue Me, which has just completed it’s fourth season, will be returning with a 22 episode fifth season. The standard length season for a cable show is 13. Rescue me features Dennis Leary as tortured fireman Tommy Gavin and has garned four Emmy nominations during its run.
Damages just completed its first season. The show will see stars Glenn Close, Rose Byrne and Tate Donovan return.
Glenn Close plays a ruthless, and successful, litigator named Patricia Hewes. Byrne is her protégée Ellen Parsons.
Damages garnered critical success and delivered solid ratings.
In addition to these shows, FX is also home to The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Dirt and The Riches.
Rescue Me signed their deal the day after the WGA strike, so there aren't even any episodes in the can in the strike lasts that long.
Rescue Me generally starts their seasons in May/June so unless the strike continues into March or so, it won't affect them.
They would not start filming the fifth season until then.
