FX has announced an order for a “limited series” of Fargo.
The ten episode show will be inspired by the demented Coen Brothers’ classic film. It will be a new story and new characters, but done in the world with similar sensibilities.
Noah Hawley is serving as writer/producer. Hawley is the creator of the short-lived The Unusuals, a bizare police show that starred Jeremy Renner and Adam Goldberg. Hawley certainly has the sensibilities to create odd situations and characters that would be at home in the film, but he is still stepping into the shoes of a couple amazing filmmakers.
“For years, people have tried to adapt this Academy Award®-winning gem into a TV series with no success,” said John Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks. “I have always loved Fargo and I was skeptical about this as a series, but Noah Hawley’s script made me a believer. This script is so good and so true to the tone of the original movie.”
