Victor Gischler’s GO-GO GIRLS OF THE APOCALYPSE rocks, plain and simple. This is an awesome source for film. Yet the current economy makes getting films made difficult. Well, unless it is a big-budget flick based on a boardgame (BATTLESHIP, for example).

But Jason Hewitt is looking to convince folks that GO-GO GIRLS is worth investing in. He has put together a teaser trailer in hopes to drawing interest from would-be investors.

Jason is a Louisiana native and has been involved in the film industry since 2002 and has produced over a dozen films.

Jason was looking to collaborate locally and Googled “Baton Rouge novelist” and stumbled upon the facebook of The Gisch. He checked out SHOTGUN OPERA and became a fan.

Jason told me “Go-Go Girls is such a great title, I mean its already a movie, so I read it next and decided that no matter what we are going to get this made into a movie.”

I asked him who came up with the idea of having Victor handle the screenwriting himself. “I’ll take the credit for that,” Jason told me, “Victor sent me a screenplay that he had written which is not based on one of his books and it didn’t take long for me to realize that he is a master at dialogue, so it made complete sense to me for him to write the screenplay.”

For his part, Victor is both excited and nervous to tackle his own work: “In a way I’m nervous because if the movie stinks I have only myself to blame since I wrote the screenplay.  But I will say that I actually think I did a good job keeping as much from the book as possible and capturing the flavor and tone of the novel.”

The size and scope of GO-GO will depend on funding. Regardless of the budget, Jason promises that folks will get bang for their buck.

“What I can say is that we will spend every penny making this movie and put everything up on the screen. Even if its a small budget film we will wow people with what we do.”

Previously, the outstanding producer Brad Wyman shopped GO-GO around, but with no success.

Now this is not footage from the film, but simply something put together to give investors a feel for the source material.

I asked The Gisch what he thought of it: “The teaser captures the tone. I think it’ll get people jazzed for the real thing. The producer loves the script which is just starting to make it to some select readers. I am pumped.”
