Warren Ellis is a prolific writer and he’s doing quite a few projects with the wonderful folks at Avatar Press. His series Gravel is about a combat magician and it is all kinds of strange fun.
The latest story lines include our hero defeating the minor seven and joining the major seven, groups of magic users who operate under the radar. After defeating the minor seven and being recruited he is tasked with finding a murderer and choosing a new minor seven. Recruit #1 is Kanika Tikolowho also has the best line in the book, “I’m a witch you fucker”.
Eliis seems to be having a lot of fun with this hard boiled comabt magician and the art by Mike Wolfer is great. If you’ve not read this yet pick up a few issues, you’ll dig it.
