Hendrix“Are You Experienced?
Ah! Have you ever been experienced?
Well, I have.”

I have been experienced, over three hours worth tonight here in Milwaukee. Experience Hendrix is a show touring put together by Janie L Hendrix made up of an all star crew of some of the best musicians working. They take turns playing Hendrix and in turn helping us celebrate one of the true pioneers of modern rock.
Before the show started there was some cool video about Jimi Hendrix which I believe is from a documentary that aired on PBS. ( I bought the DVD) we were then introduced to Billy Cox who was the bass layer from the Band Of Gypsies. After Billy Cox the rest of the night was a parade of amazing musicians.  Dweezil Zappa, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Johnny Lang, Brad Whitford from Aerosmith, Cesar Rosas and David Hidalgo from Los Lobos, the drummer from Double Trouble (and he worked his ass off), Zack Wylde, Eric Gales, Buddy Guy, Eric Johnson, and loads more. The line up will be changing a bit from show to show.

We had a great time, Kenny Wayne Shepherd blew the doors of the place, Johhny Lang playing with Bradford Whitford was pure joy. Zakk Wylde got a lot of response but for me he was the only part of the show that dragged. He’s great and all but I didn’t come to hear his hard rock solo noodling.  Rosas and Hidalgo were amazing. I had seen them years ago at a show when the stage lost power, they set down the guitars they were playing and switched to acoustic and did an impromptu set of Hendrix songs.  They are even better plugged in. Not a slow or off moment all night really, and I’d go again.
I’ve seen a lot of concerts and will be seeing more, this was one of the best shows I’ve been to. I’d like to give a shout out to my man Kevin Orfield for telling me we should go.
If this show is any where near you, GO!!!!

I think they’re calling our names
Maybe now you can’t hear them, but you will
if you just take hold of my hand”
