HBO has ordered a pilot for the proposed CRIMINAL JUSTICE and James Gandolfino is attached to star.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE is based on the BBC series that ran from 2008 to 2009. Each of the two series featured one criminal case. The new series has Schindler’s List Oscar winning writer Steven Zaillian writing and directing with acclaimed novelist Richard Price co-writing. While Price is best known as a novelist, he won an Edgar for the HBO series THE WIRE and was nominated for an Oscar for his screenplay for THE COLOR OF MONEY.
Gandolfini will play Jack Stone, a scruffy jailhouse attorney who frequents police stations for clients. There, he finds a client: Naz, an American-born Pakistani.
