Early this morning, word came that James Garner passed away. He was 86. Garner was best known for his portrayal of private investigator Jim Rockford in NBC’s THE ROCKFORD FILES. The series ran from 1974-1980. His awards included the Golden Globe, the people’s Choice, the Screen Actor’s Guild and Emmy awards.
Prior to The Rockford Files, he played Bret Maverick in MAVERICK from 1957 to 1962 and reprised the role in the short lived Bret Maverick series.
I will miss “Ole Jimmy” and Rockford files is one of my favorite old shows. He was one of the oldies but goodies. I’m sad to hear he died. Another ‘end-of-an-era’. Rest In Peace! James.
