According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar winner Jon Voight has signed on for season seven of 24. He will be playing the main McNasty.

After the recent criticisms of the 24 has faced, signing Voight could be the shot in the arm the show needs. He is a solid actor and has a ton of screen charisma. He should make a fine foil for Keifer Sutherland.

Season seven won’t air until January, but there will be a prequel telefilm that will air on November 23rd. That telefilm will establish Voight’s character.
For those wondering what to expect in the prequel, here is the official synopsis:
Jack Bauer is a lost soul trying to find his place in the world and regain a sense of equilibrium while building houses for the poor in Africa. Jack’s peaceful existence is threatened when he and his friend Benton get caught up in a coup de-tat against a powerful African warlord that spirals out of control. Back in the United States the country prepares to swear in President Allison Taylor during her Inauguration Day. Also, the gov’t moves to subpoena Jack to appear in an upcoming trial for his past actions.
