Aspiring authors in Wisconsin may want to check this out:

Everyone has a story to tell. Let us help you tell it. That’s the motto of the Oshkosh Area Writers Club, who sponsor the Lakefly Writers Conference in Oshkosh. Coinciding with the lakefly hatch on Lake Winnebago, the event is being held on Saturday, May 9th, 8:30am-4pm at the Oshkosh Convention Center. Presenters include New York Times bestselling author Michael Perry, fantasy writer Scott Lynch, horror maven Richard Thomas, poet laureate Kimberly Blaeser, comedian Carl Strong, a police detective who analyzes crime scenes, and many other writing experts in fields ranging from memoirs to blogging. Twelve different workshops are offered, including: how to create a murder scene, promote your self-published book, and write comedy.

The $60.00 registration fee includes the workshops, luncheon, snacks and beverages throughout the day, book exhibits, author round tables, raffles, and a chance to mingle with writers. (Early bird registration–before March 31st–is $45.00.) In addition to the May 9th presentations, three more workshops are offered on Friday, May 8th.
