Last Saturday, Jess Lourey celebrated the release of NOVEMBER HUNT, at Once Upon A Crime bookstore, with family, friends and readers.
NOVEMBER HUNT is the 7th title in the Murder-by-Month Series.
November in Battle Lake, Minnesota, is cold enough to freeze the balls off a pool table. It’s also deer hunting season. When Tom Kicker is killed in a hunting accident, Mira James is hired to investigate — a job that brings her closer to a P.I. license. Braving subzero temps and a shrieking blizzard, Mira uncovers a nasty secret that threatens to destroy the town’s most prominent families.
The turn-out was strong and included writers Carl Brookins, Lance Zarimba, Michael Allen Mallory, Gary Bush, Kristi Belcamino (who just signed on with the Jane Dystel Agency to sell her first mystery, a thriller tentatively called Blessed Are the Dead), and Linda Kourky.
Pat and Gary were excellent hosts and provided food and drink, with Gary using a recipe from NOVEMBER HUNT to make Twinkly Twinkie Sushi.
One reader, unable to attend, sent her husband and seven-year-old Clara Lee to procure a signed copy.
Publisher’s Weekly praises Jess for “successfully combines humor, an intriguing mystery, and quirky smalltown characters” while Brodart Vibe calls it “delight”  a “fun read.”
