By now, most of you have heard about the passing of Lauren Bacall. Bacall, born Joan Perske, made an wowed film audiences right off the bat with her role as Marie ‘Slim’ Browning in TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT, Howard Hawk’s adaptation of the Hemingway novel of the same name. Of course that role was huge for Bacall for two reasons: Not only did it make her a star, but it introduced her to Humphrey Bogart, the man who she would marry and be forever linked to. Bacall was 89.

Next Tuesday, TCM will be airing HARPER (based on Ross MacDonald’s THE MOVING TARGET). The film features Bacall along with Paul Newman.
