Oscar-winner Sir Ben Kingsley (Ghandi, Schindler’s List, Sexy Beast), Eva Mendes (We own the night, Hitch) and Josh Harnett (Lucky Number Slevin, The Virgin Suicides, Pearl Harbor) have signed on for the big screen version of Arturo Perez-Reverte’s Queen of the South.
Eva Mendes stars as a Theresa Mendoza, Mexican Woman, who after fleeing to Spain, becomes drug lord and seeks to avenge the murder of her lover.
Harnett will play Santiago, an American Marine that ends up involved in her business.
Kingsley will play Oleg Yasikov, a Russian Businessman.
Director Jonathan Jakubowicz has also co-written the screenplay with Albert Torres.
Jakubowicz will also be directing the big screen version of Robert Ludlum’s The Sigma Protocol.
