The leads are set for Sandra Brown’s RICOCHET, the second installment of TNT’s upcoming Tuesday Night Mystery series. Each telefilm is based on the crime novel, with the first being Scott Turow’s INNOCENT.
When Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher is summoned to the home of Judge Cato Laird in the middle of the night to investigate a fatal shooting, he knows that discretion and kid-glove treatment are the key to staying in the judge’s good graces and keeping his job.
At first glance, the case appears open-and-shut: Elise, the judge’s trophy wife, interrupted a burglary in progress and killed the intruder in self-defense. But Duncan is immediately suspicious of Elise’s innocent act. And further investigation quickly puts Duncan’s career in jeopardy — because he can’t deny his increasing attraction to Elisa Laird, even if she is a married woman, a proven liar, and a murder suspect.
John Corbett will be playing Det Sgt Hatcher. Corbett first came into the spotlight as Chris, the DJ on Northern Exposure. He has since starred in MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING and has had recurring roles in SEX AND THE CITY, PARENTHOOD and can currently be seen in THE UNITED STATES OF TARA.
Julie Benz is Elise Laird. Julie played Darla on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL and was Rita on DEXTER before being killed off last season. She also was a regular on the cult series NO ORDINARY FAMILY and will be seen in CBS’s A GIFTED MAN.
Gary Cole will play Judge Cato Laird. Cole is an Emmy winner with a career of almost 30 years. He was awesome in the short-lived AMERICAN GOTHIC, has had recurring roles on THE WEST WING, ENTOURAGE, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and FAMILY GUY. He is a cult icon for his role in OFFICE SPACE.
RICOCHET is currently filming in New Orleans.
Other novels being adapted include Richard North Patterson’s SILENT WITNESS, Lisa Gardner’s HIDE, April Smith’s GOOD MORNING, KILLER and Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark’s DECK THE HALLS.
