I have to say that I did not see this coming.

Cable Network A&E will not be ordering a fourth season of LONGMIRE. The show, which is based on the characters of Craig Johnson, averaged 3.52 million viewers during it’s third season. Season 2 averaged 3.7 million weekly viewers, season one did 4.0 million. Those are same day numbers and do not include viewings in the days following the initial airing.
A&E released the following statement:
We would like to thank the phenomenal cast, crew and producers of Longmire, along with our partners at Warner Horizon, for their tireless work on three seasons of quality dramatic storytelling. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.
But there is still hope for the series, Deadline is reporting the production company, Warner Horizon, is shopping the series around.  3.5 million is still a nice number for the likes of A&E, second only to Duck Dynasty. I can’t help but think somebody will pick it up. If not, the cast and crew can be proud of the work they did, all three season were damn good and established a loyal fanbase.
