Season two of A&E’s LONGMIRE ended  strong, both creatively and in the ratings.
The season finale saw one regular arrested and another seriously injured, leaving fans on pins and needles until season three, should there be a third season (more on that later).
The episode averaged 4.4 million veiwers, with 1.1 mil in the key demo of 18-49, both were season highs. For the season, Longmire was down slightly, averaging 3.7 million weekly viewers vs.the 4.0 million that season one had.
At this time, A&E has made no comments regarding the future of the show. The numbers have been consistently good so it would seem a lock to be renewed, but there have been changes at the network and recent programming moves have been for more reality shows, not scripted dramas.
Looking at the number and generally positive responses from critics, it would seem likely that it would be picked up by another cable channel, should A&E pass on it. THE GLADES, another fairly successful drama, is also waiting for word on it’s future.
