Last Feb, NBC passed on a proposed U.S. version of the acclaimed British series PRIME SUSPECT. Word was that they were unable to secure a satisfactory lead.
They are having another go at it and have signed Maria Bello (A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, ER) to star.
PRIME SUSPECT is based on the amazing, award-winning BBC series. Oscar (and BAFTA, Golden Globe, Emmy) winner Helen Mirren played DCI Jane Tennison, a lead detective dealing not only with her cases but the politics of the department.
I like Maria, but I am skeptical both of the idea of a remake as well as Maria stepping in Mirren’s shoes, especially with the limitations of network television.
