Mark Billingham’s Tom Thorne has found a home, on television, on Sky One, but fellow Billingham creation DS Helen Weeks is looking to make a bigger splash with the BBC. Mark recently announced that BBC Drama North will be adapting 2008’s IN THE DARK for a series that is expected to debut in Late 2016. A second season (or series) will be based on TIME OF DEATH (Out tomorrow), the second book to feature DS Helen Weeks.
No word on casting yet, it will be interesting to see who plays Thorne, who ends up dating Weeks. His presence in IN THE DARK is limited, but he plays apparently plays a greater role in TIME OF DEATH. David Morrissey played Thorne on the Sky One series.
