Some time ago, I made mention of the plans to re-launch Sherlock Holmes. The plan was to make a great emphasis on his physical skills (boxing, swordplay) and make him less stuffy.

At the time, Neil Marshall (The Descent )was slated to direct a script by Michael Johnson.
Well, things have changed.

Warner Bros have signed Guy Ritchie ( Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch) to direct and do a rewrite of Johnson’s script.

No knock on Ritchie, but I was looking forward to seeing what kind vision Marshall would have had for Holmes.

At the time I wrote the previous piece, Russell Crowe was in the running to play Holmes, no word as to whether or not that is still the case.
