“Last week I spent a couple nights on the set of The Lincoln Lawyer and I have to say I am excited about this project beyond words. I thought that from what I saw this story is in very secure hands. The acting and direction were fantastic, the sets real and the momentum of the story intact. I think Matthew McConaughey brings a great spirit and accuracy to Mickey Haller. I can’t wait to see what they have when it’s completed.”

Michael Connelly.
I am pleased as punch to hear this. I have already pointed out my doubts about McConaughey and it is good to hear that MC is happy with what he saw. A smart author is not going to rip on a project based on their work, but Michael is a pretty straight shooter and I have never heard him say anything that seemed to be anything other than his genuine opinion.

Brad Furman (THE TAKE) will direct, with the screenwriting duties handled by John Romano (NIGHTS IN RODANTHE, INTOLERABLE CRUELTY). Tommy Lee Jones had previously been attached to co-star and direct, but left due to creative differences (which could mean anything from a difference of opinion in terms of the script to him not liking the color of his trailer).

Oscar winner Marisa Tomei is Maggie McPherson, a prosecuting attorney and ex-wife of Mickey with Ryan Phillippe, William H. Macy, John Leguizamo, Michael Pena, Trace Adkins, and Katherine Moennig also announced. Lionsgate is distributing.
