Stephen King’s THE COLORADO KID is being adapting for television…kind of.

E1 Entertainment is taking the setting of the novel and using it for a new television series called HAVEN. It is described as

“the project centers on a spooky town in Maine where cursed folk live normal lives in exile. When those curses start returning, FBI agent Audrey Parker is brought in to keep those supernatural forces at bay — while trying to unravel the mysteries of Haven.”

So it is not a straight adaptation as it will differ from the book. Actually the setting is about the only real connection.

The producers (Scott Shepard, Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller) are the same bunch that brought his novel, THE DEAD ZONE, to USA. TDZ ran from June of 02 to Sept of 07.

Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn, also from TDZ, are writing the pilot and will also be producers.

While plans are set for 13 episodes, no television deals have been made as of yet. They are planning on securing international deals first, then focus on North America.
