After a fairly successful first season. MURDER IN THE FIRST will be coming back for a second go around. On Friday, TNT announced they were ordering a second season for the Steve Boucho (NYPD BLUE, HILL STREET BLUES).
The series stars Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson as San Francisco Homicide Detectives and followed them as they investigated two seemingly unrelated murders. The mystery deepened, however, when they found that both murders had a common denominator in a Silicon Valley wunderkind. Season one had a fairly strong cast with Tom Felton, Steven Weber, James Cromwell and Richard Schiff.
Like the first season, the second will consist of ten episodes and presumably feature a mostly new supporting cast and new crime. I found MITF to be a step up from much of the current TNT fare, with great supporting performances by Felton, Weber and co. Diggs and Robertson were given just enough back story to give them depth, but not so much as to detract from the central storyline.
