I may be jumping the gun, but NBC appears to be brain dead.
Today, THR announced that NBC has greenlit six new series, including a remake of THE ROCKFORD FILES.
Somebody stop them.
For any young whippersnappers out there, James Garner ROCKED as Jim Rockford, an ex-con P.I. The series ran from 1974 to 1980 and was one of the best P.I. series ever. I simply can’t fathom anyone other than Garner playing Rockford. For God’s sake, these clowns killed off SOUTHLAND and opted to rework an all-time classic?
Other series ordered include a U.S. version of PRIME SUSPECT. This is good because we have not f**ked up enough British shows already. We will also get another quirky legal drama from David Kelly entitled KINDRED.
I'm willing to kick in on a fund for a "hit man" to stop this madness. As brain dead as these people are(see Knightrider, The Bionic Woman), a peashooter should be able to do the job.
I guess we should have seen this coming. If they try to milk crap like the aforementioned, we should have known.
Anyone who remembers the original Rockford Files would not favor this. For the younger viewers, where's the cache? It's way too late to capitalize on it. But what do you expect for the network who thought Leno at ten would work.
What's next? A remake of P0LICE ACADEMY 5?
