Note: For those looking for info regarding the 2008 nominees, go here.
I had hope, I really thought this would be the year.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 2007 Emmy Awards.
HBO’s The Wire garnered not a single nomination.
Showtime’s Dexter faired slightly better in that is was rewarded with three nominations for main title design, title theme music, and editing.
WTF?
I don’t want to knock those that were nominated, but we are seeing the same old folks and the same old shows nominated each year. While some of them are certainly deserving, some have seen their peak come and go, and are a mere sliver of what they once were.
It would be nice to see the lesser known shows that are responsible for some of the best work on television today rewarded instead of those have a bigger name.
For The Wire and Dexter to be snubbed is an absolute crime.
