Patricia Cornwell has signed a deal with Lifetime for At Risk and its forthcoming sequel The Front. The two books feature Win Garano, a Massachusetts state investigator and Monique Lamont, a district attorney.

This is the first time Cornwell has sold the rights to her work for either film or television. In the past, Lifetime has been known for shlocky films of romance and tragedy, but the network is taking steps to diversify it’s programming. They regularly adapt the novels of Nora Roberts, but also have used the work of Sue Monk Kidd, Joyce Carol Oates and Kim Edwards, with Jodi Picoult’s The Tenth Circle airing in June.

Cornwell will be an executive producer on the two films.
