Pet Spotlight: Denise Swanson and Boomer

Boomerang AKA Boomer AKA Mr. Cat

Breed or species:
Black domestic short hair cat

How long has Boomer been hanging out with you?
Boomer appeared on our doorstop 12 years ago. One day when I opened the front door, he ran into the house and hid under our bed. He did that several times and I finally kept him.

Any quirks or bad habits?
Boomer will only use his litter box if it is clean, so every time he uses it I have to clean it before he’ll use it again.

Where did he come from?
He was a stray.

How have he changed your life?
He’s changed our lives in so many ways it’s hard to say exactly. Mostly it’s the feeling of warmth and love that just radiates from him. He calms me and keeps me centered.

Denise Swanson, The New York Times best-selling author of the Scumble River Mystery series, began writing after coming face-to-face with evil. She quickly decided she would rather write about villains than encounter them in her daily life. She was also shocked to discover that getting a book published was nearly as difficult as vanquishing scoundrels. Nickeled-and-Dimed to Death is the second book in her new Devereaux’s Dime Store Mystery series featuring Devereaux Sinclair, the happy owner of the old-fashioned shop in Shadow Bend, a small town near Kansas City, Missouri. If only murder didn’t keep landing on her doorstep…

Denise was nominated for RT Magazine’s Career Achievement Award. Her fellow nominees included Sue Grafton and Janet Evanovich. Her next book, NICKLEDAND DIMED TO DEATH, will be released in March.
