The herd is being thinned.
ABC has announced they will not be bringing back Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone will go off the air when the current batch of new episodes comes to an end. Despite so-so ratings last year, ABC ordered 12-13 episodes of each for this season.
I must I confess I am hardly surprised that Dirty Sexy Money bit the dust. I fell in love with the show last season; it had a rich cast of quirky, petty, self-centered upper classers. But pretty much everyone had a heart, you could at least feel something for each of them, even Brian, the priest that hated people.
When the second season started, they declared that it was going to be dirtier…sexier…monei..ok, that is not a word. But they were going to make it a more provocative show. All they really accomplished was making the characters less appealing and even pathetic. If I don’t care about any of the characters, I am not going to follow the show.
Lee reviewed season one of Pushing Daisies and had a rather lukewarm reaction to it. While he liked the look, it just didn’t connect with him.
At a time when many shows are not even getting a half dozen episodes on air before being canceled, I have to give ABC credit to letting each of these shows produce 20+ episodes before dropping them.
